This charity has a purpose described as:

To advance the education of children of the school of the foundation (mrs ethelstons c of e primary academy, uplyme by: the provision and maintenance of the building including the purchase of a new site or the erection, alteration or improvement of buildings for the use of the school of the foundation; making grants for the purpose of enabling the managers of the school of the foundation to comply with their obligations under the education acts 1944 to 1948 to supplement the provision of benefits which would not normally be provided from statutory sources; providing and assisting in the provision of facilities and resources to promote education of children who are, or whose parents are, resident in the ecclesiastical parish of uplyme or are within the catchment area for the school
